Islet Cell Cancer - A rare type of endocrine cancer that develops in the islets of Langerhans cells in the pancreas. Islet cells are a type of pancreatic cell that forms in the endocrine tissues of the pancreas and produces hormones. These hormones help control the level of glucose (sugar) in the blood. Islet cell cancer, also called pancreatic endocrine cancer, affects the body's natural insulin-producing capabilities, leading to insulin levels that are either too high or too low.
