Intra-Arterial Chemotherapy - Also known as IAC, intra-arterial chemotherapy is a type of regional chemotherapy. In IAC, anticancer medications are given directly to a tumor through a catheter placed in the artery that is the tumor's primary blood supply. Intra-arterial chemotherapy is commonly used to treat liver tumors, in which case chemotherapy drugs are delivered directly to the liver via the hepatic artery. IAC may also be used to treat tumors that have spread to the liver from other locations, including the pancreas and colon.
