Interferons - Proteins (biological response modifiers) produced naturally by cells. Interferons support the immune system by improving the body's natural response to infection and disease. Some interferons have natural antitumor properties and may interfere with the division of cancer cells and slow tumor growth. While the body normally produces interferons, these substances can also be made in the laboratory for use in different biotherapeutic/immunotherapeutic regimens for some cancer treatments.
