Institutional Review Board - Also known as an independent ethics committee, an institutional review board is a group (including scientists, doctors, etc.) that monitors and reviews medical research projects involving human participants. The goal of an institutional review board is to ensure the safety and uphold the rights of people involved in clinical trials or medical studies. Also called IRB.
