Hormones - Proteins produced by different organs, glands (i.e., endocrine glands), or cells in the body. Hormones circulate in the bloodstream and influence the way the body functions. Some bodily processes affected by hormones include reproduction, growth, metabolism, sexual characteristics, and even hunger and thirst. Examples of male and female hormones are testosterone and estrogen. Some hormones can also be made in the laboratory.
