Edema - Swelling caused by excess fluid in body tissues. While the most common locations for edema are in the legs, ankles, feet, hands, and arms, edema can affect any part of the body. Edema may result from certain types of cancers (e.g., kidney cancer, liver cancer, ovarian cancer, breast cancer) and/or their treatments. For instance, certain chemotherapy medications (e.g., Cisplatin/Platinol and Docetaxel/Taxotere) may cause edema.
