DepoCyt®

DepoCyt^® - The brand name for the generic drug liposomal cytarabine, DepoCyt^® is a treatment option for lymphomatous meningitis, a complication of late-stage lymphoma. Belonging to the group of medicines known as antineoplastics, liposomal cytarabine is a form of cytarabine contained inside liposomes (tiny particles of fat).

DepoCyt^® interferes with the growth of cancer cells. Although lymphomatous meningitis can be controlled with cytarabine, DepoCyt^® increases the half-life of the drug so that is does not need to be administered as often (since its effects last longer in the body). DepoCyt^® is injected into the cerebrospinal fluid of the spine (a procedure known as a spinal tap, or lumbar puncture).
