Constipation - A condition in which bowel movements are infrequent and/or difficult to pass due to hardened or dry stools, which often cause pain and discomfort. A common digestive system problem, constipation is generally caused by too little fluid or not enough movement in the bowel. Constipation may be an unwanted, treatable side effect of certain cancer treatments or medications. Constipation may also be a symptom of certain forms of cancer or an intestinal tumor.
