Biological Therapy - Treatment used to stimulate the body's own immune system to fight cancer. Biological therapy is also known as immunotherapy, biotherapy, or biological response modifier therapy. Common forms of biological therapy include monoclonal antibodies, interferons, interleukins, and hematopoietic growth factors. Biological therapy can help the body's immune system fight cancerous cells in a number of ways, such as interfering with the growth patterns of cancerous cells and enhancing the killing power of disease-fighting immune system cells. It may also be used to lessen some of the side effects of cancer treatments.
