Benign Tumor - A non-invasive, non-cancerous tumor (abnormal lump or mass of tissue). A biopsy is often the only way to determine if a tumor is cancerous or benign. Benign tumors are generally not considered a major health threat, although they may still cause uncomfortable and unwanted symptoms. Benign tumors are distinguished from malignant (invasive and cancerous) tumors.
