Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplant - An allogeneic bone marrow transplant (BMT) involves transplanting stem cells retrieved from a matching donor's bone marrow, usually a sibling. Similarly, an allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplant (PBST) involves transplanting blood-forming stem cells retrieved from a matching donor's bloodstream. An allogeneic bone marrow transplant is different from an autologous bone marrow transplant, which uses bone marrow stem cells from the patient's own body.
