Abraxane® - A brand name for the generic drug called protein-bound paclitaxel, Abraxane® is an injectable cancer medication used to treat breast cancer. Belonging to a class of chemotherapy agents, this drug is a type of mitotic inhibitor, meaning it blocks cell growth by stopping cell division. Abraxane® fights breast cancer by disrupting the production of malignant cells and the rate at which these cells spread throughout the body. Some side effects of Abraxane® may include the following: allergic reactions, numbness and/or tingling, black stools, an irregular heartbeat, and reduced bone marrow functioning.
