3D Conformal Radiation - A type of external beam radiation therapy. In 3D conformal radiation, a three-dimensional image of a tumor is created, lasers are calibrated to match the shape of the tumor, and precisely-focused radiation beams are delivered directly to it. This exact targeting makes it possible to focus higher levels of radiation on the tumor, while limiting exposure to healthy surrounding tissue. 3D conformal radiation is used for treating certain types of cancers, including prostate cancer, lung cancer, and some brain tumors.
