Radiation Therapy for Gallbladder Cancer
At Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), radiation therapy is used to treat gallbladder cancers. It may be used following surgery, known as adjuvant therapy, to kill any microscopic cancer cells that were left behind.
Radiation therapy may also be used to treat more advanced cancers when surgery may not be as effective, or to shrink tumors and relieve symptoms if the cancer has spread. Depending on your needs, radiation treatment may be combined with chemotherapy to make the cancer cells more sensitive to the radiation. This type of radiation treatment is known as chemoradiation.
At CTCA, we use innovative radiation therapy technologies to target gallbladder cancer cells and minimize the damage to healthy tissues.
