Fractionated-Dose Chemotherapy for Gallbladder Cancer
Fractionated-dose chemotherapy has been a preferred delivery method of chemotherapy at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) for a number of years because it helps to reduce common side effects. It may be able to make your gallbladder cancer treatment more tolerable.
Instead of administering chemotherapy drugs in one large dose, fractionated-dose chemotherapy works by breaking up full doses into smaller amounts. These smaller doses may be administered over a period of three to five days during your gallbladder cancer treatment, allowing the chemotherapy drugs to work against your gallbladder cancer cells over a longer period of time.
At CTCA, we are dedicated to offering innovative delivery methods such as fractionated-dose chemotherapy. We believe these treatments can help reduce common chemotherapy side effects (e.g., nausea, vomiting). Gallbladder cancer patients who receive traditional chemotherapy administered in the single, large dose may otherwise experience such side effects with greater intensity.
