Fractionated-Dose Chemotherapy for Extrahepatic Bile Duct Cancer
The cancer experts at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) have been offering fractionated-dose chemotherapy for several years. As opposed to standard chemotherapy, in which anticancer drugs are administered in a single large dose, fractionated-dose chemotherapy breaks the total dose into smaller amounts administered over a longer period of time (e.g., three to five days).
This method of delivery may possibly allow the chemotherapy drugs to work against the cancerous cells for a longer period of time. In addition, fractionated-dose chemotherapy may help to reduce some of the unpleasant side effects of standard chemotherapy and make extrahepatic bile duct cancer treatment more tolerable.
