This form of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) incorporates the advantages of CT scanning technology for accurate radiation therapy treatment that spares nearby healthy tissue.
The radiation beams used during TomoTherapy are aimed directly at the cancerous tissue, with the help of built-in CT scanning. This allows your radiation oncologist to maintain a clear picture of the tumor’s location throughout your radiation treatment.
The TomoTherapy machine has a unique circular structure that allows the radiation beams to target cancer from any angle of the body, resulting in a more precise treatment.
As an esophageal cancer treatment, TomoTherapy offers several advantages:
