Community

Tulsa, the hometown of our hospital in the Southwest, offers authenticity, hospitality and a friendly spirit you simply won’t find elsewhere. Lone gone are its days of oil barons and cowboys. Today, a diversified economy spurred by the high-tech, aerospace, manufacturing, and healthcare industries powers the mid-sized city.

Tulsa (pop. 388,000) is big enough to have everything you need, but small enough to make you feel right at home. In 2004, the city was designated as one of “America’s Most Livable Communities” by Partners for Livable Communities. It’s one of the most affordable places to live in the United States too. The cost of living there is well below the national average. In addition, Tulsa ranks second in the country for best 12-month forecast.

Beautiful rolling hills, charming neighborhoods, elegant mansions built by oil tycoons, and mesmerizing art deco architecture are common sights throughout the Greater Tulsa area. It’s a golfer’s paradise with its lush greens ideal for PGA and U.S. Open championships. It’s also a sportsman’s playground with its abundance of recreation areas for fishing, boating and hunting.

Commuting

One of the reasons why many professionals relocate to Tulsa is that the commute to and from work is minimal. In fact, Tulsa’s commute time is regarded as the second shortest commute time in the country. On average, our employees spend 10 to 15 minutes traveling between work and home.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Southwestern Regional Medical Center is located in easy-to-reach South Tulsa, just off of Highway 169 at 81st Street.

Two of the city’s suburbs (which are both less than 10 miles from our hospital) were deemed by the magazine as a few of the “Best Places to Live” in America. In 2007, Jenks (pop. 11,400) ranked at no. 43 on Money’s list. The year prior, Broken Arrow (pop. 86,200) took the 66th spot on the list.

Schools

Tulsa and its suburbs offer great public and private schools for students in preschool through high school. The city ranks at no. 15 for the highest rate of high school graduates in the United States.
