Renee Lang, a naturopathic oncology provider at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Eastern Regional Medical Center, describes her relationships with her patients as respectful, caring and compassionate. “My goal for patients is to help them fight cancer and increase their quality of life," she says. "I want to make sure that I listen to their needs and desires.”
Lang earned a bachelor’s degree in conservation and resource studies at the University of California, Berkeley. There, she studied environmental effects on health, among other topics.
After graduation, Lang enrolled in the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, where she earned a doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine. During graduate school, Lang focused on women’s health, acute care and mood disorders.
In the years following, Lang served as a naturopathic clinician in Oregon and Vermont. She also held a grant-funded position as the practicing naturopathic clinician at a local cancer center. This year-long study involved the incorporation of complementary care for breast cancer patients.
Today Lang, who is a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO), continues to advance her understanding of naturopathic medicine by attending various conferences and presentations.
In August 2009, Lang made her way to CTCA. “I believe that the integrative approach to cancer treatment provides the best options for our patients," says Lang on why she joined CTCA. "I also enjoy working closely with doctors and other clinicians in patient care.”
When she is not serving patients, Lang enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly hiking and gardening. She also loves spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Lang is a member of the Vermont Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
