With a career devoted to the treatment of thoracic oncology and marked by numerous awards, as well as research and leadership appointments, Dr. Mark Lund brings significant expertise and talent to Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Eastern Regional Medical Center.
One of a small group of annually trained interventional pulmonologists nationwide, Dr. Lund helps patients fighting lung cancer with the innovative and advanced technology for diagnosis and treatment available at CTCA.
The Director of the Advanced Center for Lung & Thoracic Oncology is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and by sub-specialty boards in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine.
Prior to joining CTCA, Dr. Lund served as Director of Interventional Pulmonology at the Regional Center for Complex Airways Disease Management at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Maine. As creator and developer of the center, the interventional pulmonologist excelled in teaching and training.
In addition, Dr. Lund has been a member of numerous professional organizations and scientific societies. He has been on the faculty of the international meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians. He has earned clinical, research and teaching awards in pulmonary medicine and thoracic oncology.
Dr. Lund has also held leadership positions at the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Association of Bronchology, and sat on the American College of Chest Physicians Interventional Procedure and Diagnostic Chest Network Steering committee. Furthermore, Dr. Lund is a member of the American and World Associations for Bronchology and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer.
Dr. Lund received a bachelor’s of science degree at the Virginia Military Institute. Following his training as a physician’s assistant at Emory University, he pursued a medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. After serving as a resident, he completed a pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lund subsequently completed an advanced year of fellowship in interventional pulmonology, also at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
As a part of Dr. Lund’s life-long commitment to improving cancer treatment, he has participated in wide-ranging research. In addition to writing numerous abstracts and editorials, he has contributed to chapters and manuscripts in Chest, Respiration and the Journal of Bronchology. Dr. Lund has been honored for his tireless work with awards and honors, including convocation in 2005 as a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and the Annie Simpson Pulmonary Medicine Prize in Pulmonary Medicine.
