Dr. Fernandez earned a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Virginia in 1997 and then completed a Doctor of Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine in 2003. He was a Resident in General Surgery at St. Luke’s - Roosevelt Hospital Center from 2003 to 2009. He completed a research fellowship in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from 2006 to 2007.

He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
In addition to his extensive training in advanced reconstructive surgery techniques, Dr. Fernandez served as a Medical Staff Instructor at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from 2011 to 2012, and served on the medical staff at large medical centers in Reading, PA from 2012 to 2014. He joined CTCA® in October 2014.
Dr. Fernandez is licensed to practice medicine in the States of Pennsylvania, New York, Florida and New Jersey. At CTCA, Dr. Fernandez provides plastic & reconstructive surgery, specializing in microsurgery. Using advanced techniques, Dr. Fernandez works with cancer patients to restore function and appearance following surgery. Patients who have undergone a mastectomy for breast cancer may be candidates for a procedure known as deep inferior epigastric perforators (DIEP) flap, a reconstructive technique in which Dr. Fernandez specializes.
“Recent microsurgical advances allow for improved and safer reconstruction than was previously available,” says Dr. Fernandez. “I am excited to bring these expanded options to CTCA.”
When he is not at CTCA, Dr. Fernandez enjoys spending time with his family, and pursuing many interests, including photography, art and ice hockey.
