Janell Clark, APN-BC, MSN, MBA, Surgical Oncology Nurse Practitioner at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) in Philadelphia, was integral in launching the Breast Program at Eastern Regional Medical Center. She understands the concerns of patients undergoing surgery. “The whole-person approach at CTCA provides patients with care that can address all of these concerns,” she says.
Clark earned her first diploma in nursing at Northeastern Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 2001. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Immaculata University in Immaculata, Pennsylvania, in 2006. In 2009, she completed a Master of Science in Nursing at Gwynedd Mercy University in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania, becoming a Nurse Practitioner in Adult Health.
Since 2001, Clark has providing nursing care in several clinical settings. From 2001 to 2004, she was a charge nurse at a regional dialysis center, working with more than 100 dialysis patients each week. In 2004, she became Clinical Staff Nurse at a large hospital in Philadelphia, where she worked with cardio-thoracic patients.
She joined CTCA in May 2006, and has worked in several nursing capacities. As Nursing Supervisor, Clark oversaw the Intensive Care Unit. As a Wound/Ostomy/Enterostomal and Perioperative Nurse, she worked with patients before and after surgery. Later, she was a Surgical Nurse Extender, working with surgeons caring for new patients.
As Surgical Oncology Nurse Practitioner, Clark focuses on caring for patients being treated for breast cancer. She coordinates surgery and port placement, and works closely with patients after surgery.
Clark is a Certified Adult Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurse Credentialing Center. She holds a certification in Wound Care/Ostomy Nurse through the National Alliance of Wound Care. She is a Certified-Breast Patient Navigator & Clinical Breast Examiner through the National Consortium of Breast Centers.
Clark is a member of the National Honor Society of Nurses and a member of the Core Committee for Breast Health Navigation with the National Consortium of Breast Centers. She is currently pursuing a doctorate degree.
Outside of CTCA, Clark enjoys spending time with her husband, their three children and one granddaughter.
