An otolaryngologist, or ears, nose and throat (ENT) physician, Dr. Helen Yoo Bowne treats patients who have head and neck cancer, as well as other ENT-related problems. She performs head and neck surgical procedures, including laryngectomies, neck dissections, thyroidectomies/parathyroidectomies, parotidectomies, sinonasal tumor excisions, endoscopic sinus surgery and other ENT and head/neck surgeries.
In October 2011, Dr. Yoo Bowne joined the staff at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) at Eastern Regional Medical Center. She says, “What drew me to CTCA® was the collaborative approach and focus on patient care and comfort throughout patients’ treatment and afterwards. It’s what sets CTCA apart from other cancer centers.”
Board certified in otolaryngology, Dr. Yoo Bowne earned a medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. She completed a surgical internship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, followed by an otolaryngology-head and neck surgical residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. She then returned to Beth Israel Medical Center to complete a head and neck surgical fellowship.
Before studying medicine, Dr. Yoo Bowne received a bachelor’s degree in biology from New York University.
Previously, Dr. Yoo Bowne served as an associate attending physician and Acting Division Chief of the Division of Otolaryngology at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City. She also served as assistant professor of otolaryngology at New York Medical College.
Dr. Yoo Bowne has been the recipient of the J. Swift Hanley Award for Excellence in Resident Research. Her work has been published in clinical journals such as Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and The Laryngoscope. She has also presented on numerous otolaryngology topics at national and local conferences.
Dr. Yoo Bowne is a member of the New York Head and Neck Society, the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and the Pennsylvania Academy of Otolaryngology.
