Everything about Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA)—from our standard of care (the Mother Standard® ) to our whole-patient, multidisciplinary approach to fighting cancer—attracted Dr. Dinesh Patel to CTCA at Eastern Regional Medical Center.
The seasoned, board-certified medical oncologist takes time to understand his patients’ unique needs and address any concerns they may have. He takes detailed notes on each patient’s medical history and performs thorough evaluations, which are critical to the treatment recommendations he makes.
Dr. Patel enjoys the time he spends with his patients and their caregivers, whom he says not only comfort patients, but offer a valuable second set of ears to listen to detailed information at a time when the patient him or herself may be overwhelmed and nervous. He encourages family members/caregivers to be a part of their loved ones’ appointments.
Family is a very important part of Dr. Patel’s own life. He takes great pride in all of the members of his family, including his wife of 40 years, their beautiful daughter and her husband and his two wonderful granddaughters.
Dr. Patel received a medical degree from Baroda Medical College in India. He completed a medical internship, residency and an OB/GYN internship at the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn & Queens in New York, followed by a medical oncology fellowship at Indiana University.
As a medical director for 20 years, Dr. Patel headed the Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care facility in Zanesville, Ohio. He was also a chairperson of the department of medicine at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Zanesville.
Dr. Patel is a member of a number of medical associations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Cancer Society. He is a former president of the Muskingum County, Ohio chapter of the American Cancer Society.
