The rehabilitation team at Eastern
As Director of Oncology Rehabilitation at CTCA at Eastern Regional Medical Center, Susan Eckhardt leads an integrated team of physical therapists (PTs), occupational therapists (OTs), and speech and language pathologists.
“Our team of physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists meet the patient where they are and offer a means to optimize their quality of life through a variety of rehab services,” says Eckhardt.
A licensed and registered occupational therapist, Eckhardt has nearly 20 years of experience in the field of rehabilitation.
Collaboration among your care team
The Oncology Rehabilitation Department collaborates regularly with the rest of your care team, including your physicians, oncology nurses, naturopathic clinicians, oncology nutritionists, mind-body therapists, and pain specialists. This team approach provides you with comprehensive cancer care.
“As a medically-based service, we rely on this collaboration to guide what we do and to contribute to patient care. At CTCA, the team approach includes all supportive staff too,” says Eckhardt. “The people who work at CTCA are special. They are friendly and supportive, united in providing the best care possible to patients. Everyone is focused on patient care,” she adds.
