Your medical oncology team
The Department of Medical Oncology at Eastern is comprised of an experienced and compassionate team of cancer professionals. Dr. Willis leads the department of about 30, including doctors, nurses and support staff. Dr. Willis has extensive experience in the field, which includes a fellowship, research and training at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) cancer institute.
Other than Dr. Willis, some of the other medical oncologists who may become part of your CTCA care team include Dr. Frederick Brunk and Dr. Dinesh Patel. As the hospital grows, the team continues to expand and welcome new clinicians.
In addition to medical oncologists, some of the other members of the team include oncology nurse practitioners and registered nurses.
The rest of your care team
Aside from your medical oncologist, your care team at Eastern will also include clinicians from a variety of other disciplines, including nutrition, naturopathic medicine, pain management, oncology rehabilitation, mind-body medicine, and spiritual support. The goal is to help you fight cancer and enjoy a good quality of life. It’s a whole-person approach to cancer care.
This multidisciplinary approach means your clinicians are better able to attack the disease from all angles and on all fronts. “Our motto is that we will be as aggressive as we can without doing harm to the patient. We use multi-modality methods in our aggressive approach to advanced disease. That is the essence of this hospital,” says Dr. Willis.
