Dr. Alden is an ordained minister. He earned a Master of Divinity degree at the Academy of the New Church Theological School. He served as a pastor for five years before attending Thomas Jefferson University. There, Dr. Alden earned his medical degree, completed residency and then a fellowship in the Department of Radiation Oncology and Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Alden has specialized in the difficult and challenging clinical aspects of radiation oncology, working to develop unique ways to deliver this potent cancer fighting modality.
His unique background allows him to actively listen to patients during their initial consultations and provide explanations in terms they can easily understand. “Everything is openly discussed, especially the most difficult issues. I encourage patients to work on both their natural and spiritual health.”
Dr. Alden remains Associate Professor and Vice Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Drexel University College of Medicine, and was an Assistant Professor and Clinical Service Chief at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. During his career, he has served on numerous educational and clinical committees, participated in extensive community service work, and has become a recognized speaker at local, national and international events.
Additionally, Dr. Alden is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, and the American College of Radiation Oncology. He has also served as a speaker for the American Cancer Society.
