Erica Koch is a naturopathic clinician at CTCA at Eastern Regional Medical Center. Koch appreciates both the arts and sciences. She says her life has led her to cultivate and give equal expression to both fields.
As an undergraduate student at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, Koch studied pre-med and literature. As a graduate student at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Koch studied education, with an emphasis in literature and writing. She then became a writing professor, as she loved the telling and unfolding of stories. During this time, Koch became aware of how people create stories and how stories create people.
When Koch discovered naturopathic medicine, she immediately connected to the wisdom and truth of its philosophy:

In addition, Koch appreciated the natural remedies and how they support the individual’s vital force. This passion inspired her to attend the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, where she earned a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree, with a focus in women’s health. Koch also became board-certified in naturopathic medicine and went on to complete a residency in integrative oncology in 2005.
Before she joined CTCA in May 2007, Koch practiced naturopathic medicine in Portland for two years, both in private practice and at Nike, Inc. Her favorite aspect of medicine is connecting with patients and being a witness to their healing.
Koch is fascinated with healing and understanding the patterns of health and disease. In addition to her enthusiasm for naturopathic medicine (e.g., nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathic medicine, hydrotherapy, mind-body medicine, lifestyle counseling), she sees great value in energetic medicine. Consequently, Koch is also a Reiki Master and certified Hatha yoga teacher.
Koch is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, Pennsylvania Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and Society for Integrative Oncology.
