Radiation Oncologist
Dr. Curt Heese works in a team alongside other compassionate cancer experts at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Eastern Regional Medical Center.
The board-certified radiation oncologist brings an extensive knowledge of several radiation therapies to his position at CTCA. His areas of expertise include Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and 3D Conformal Radiation, as well as High-Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy for treatment of prostate, breast, tongue and gynecological cancers.
Dr. Heese earned a medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. Following medical school, he fulfilled an internal medicine internship at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore. He then spent four years in an intensive radiation oncology residency program at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Before medical school, Dr. Heese completed a graduate fellowship at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, researching the genetics of cancer cell metabolism. He also earned a master's degree in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Prior to his graduate studies, Dr. Heese completed two bachelor’s degrees at the same time at Iowa State University—one in chemical engineering and the other in microbiology. He obtained both degrees with honors and distinction.
He has published on a handful of subjects, including cutaneous T-cell lymphoma and 3D conformal radiation therapy for retinoblastoma.
In his free time, Dr. Heese repairs various electronics, plays strategic tabletop war games and loves to bike and ski.
