Five-year cancer survivors to “Celebrate Life Every Day”

CTCA

blog celebrate life 2014

This month kicked off the first of five Celebrate Life® events to be held this year at CTCA hospitals. The annual event honors CTCA patients who are celebrating their five-year anniversaries as cancer survivors.

The theme for this year's events is “Celebrate Life Every Day.” It’s a time to observe milestones patients have reached and surpassed, as well as every day moments they cherish with their loved ones.

The two-day celebration includes a welcome reception, a ceremonial tree planting, Hope RoundsSM (visits with patients currently in treatment), a formal ceremony and a luncheon or brunch.

During the ceremony, celebrants are called on stage to receive commemorative plaques. Moving videos featuring survivors are also screened, as well as fun videos starring hospital staff. CTCA leaders also give inspiring speeches.

Gold leaves inscribed with survivors’ names are also added to the Tree of Life in the hospital lobbies. Patients undergoing treatment at CTCA often acknowledge the Tree of Life and the names on the leaves as a source of inspiration and hope.

CTCA at Western Regional Medical Center held its Celebrate Life event on March 20 and 21. Events will also take place at other CTCA hospitals on the following dates:

April 10-11 @ CTCA at Southeastern Regional Medical Center

May 15-16 @ CTCA at Eastern Regional Medical Center

June 5-6 @ CTCA at Midwestern Regional Medical Center

September 20-21 @ CTCA at Southwestern Regional Medical Center
