Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI is one of the innovative diagnostic technologies used by Cancer Treatment Centers of America to precisely pinpoint cancer cells within your body. MRI uses magnetic energy and radio waves to create cross-sectional images or "slices" of the human body. The main component of most MRI systems is a large tube-shaped or cylindrical magnet.

Clinical studies show that MRI is remarkably sensitive in finding some breast cancers that mammography cannot detect. While mammography provides the primary function of early detection of breast cancer, it doesn't find all cancers.

MRI helps to locate hidden cancers. MRI can be particularly useful in diagnosing and staging of breast cancer if you have dense breast tissue or implants. Traditionally considered a diagnostic test for breast cancer, MRI can be a screening tool if you are at high risk, with a genetic predisposition to the disease or if you already have had cancer in one breast.

Additionally, MRI helps CTCA radiologists and other specialists determine the best treatment for you by identifying the stage of your disease. When our experts identify the stage of cancer, they are better able to recommend the treatment plan that is likely to be the most effective.
