Advanced Diagnostics: CT Scan

example of diagnostic test results

Computed tomography (CT) scan (also known as a computed axial tomography scan, or CAT scan) is one of the most commonly used tools for the screening, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

A CT scan is an X-ray procedure that uses a computer to produce three-dimensional, cross-sectional images of areas inside the body.

Our cancer doctors use CT scans to pinpoint the location of a tumor, evaluate the extent of the disease, and assess whether the disease is responding to treatment. Also, a CT scan can help us accurately guide cancer treatments during a procedure.

Unlike conventional X-rays, CT scans provide exceptionally detailed images of a wide range of body organs and tissues, including both normal and abnormal tissues.

In some cases, a CT scan can show diseased tissue and other affected areas that conventional X-rays may miss.
