The cancer doctors at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) use an innovative surgical technique called ERBEJET™ 2 for cancers of the liver, kidney, brain and prostate.
Instead of a needle, ERBEJET2 uses a high pressure water jet to selectively target and dissect water-soluble tissue, and provide precise, intact margins along the line of dissection.
Advantages of ERBEJET2
- Because of its precision and anatomic visibility, this technique helps to spare critical structures, like blood vessels, nerves and ducts.
- The preservation of tissues and structures helps to minimize the potential for blood loss.
- ERBEJET2 uses gentle pressure rather than intense heat, which helps to reduce trauma to surrounding healthy tissue.
ERBEJET2 can be used in both open and laparoscopic surgical procedures, with shorter operating times.
