Overview of survivorship support services
Studies have shown that a significant percentage of cancer survivors deal with chronic health problems that may be related to their cancer treatment. The most commonly cited problems are chronic pain, fatigue, cognitive impairment, depression, anxiety, sexual function and sleep disorders.
Promoting good health begins with your first visit to Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA). Many patients arrive at CTCA® experiencing side effects that have gone untreated.
The survivorship support services consist of four key elements:
- Program introductions: At the start of your treatment, we will meet with you to talk about our survivorship support services and how they may benefit you.
- Clinical assessments: After your primary treatment, we will work with you to assess your health and identify potential long- and late-term effects of your treatment.
- Care plan: We will complete a survivorship care plan for you based on the specific treatments you have received. The plan will include help with managing medications, side effects, pain, healthy lifestyle behaviors and cancer screenings.
- Communication: We will continue to be in touch whenever you need us, providing nutritional, physical and emotional education and support.
Whether you are at one of our cancer hospitals, or at home in between visits, we're here to help. Members of your care team are readily available to you and are only a phone call away.
