Dr. Weiss recommends that patients ask their physicians about their cancer type and stage, and whether they qualify for any available clinical trials. Patients should also ask what treatments are available, including surgery, radiation or chemotherapy, he says. If chemotherapy is recommended, ask whether it is administered orally or intravenously.
