TomoTherapy Treatment for Colorectal Cancer
TomoTherapy® Highly Integrated Adaptive Radiotherapy (Hi-ART) is another advanced radiation therapy delivery system Cancer Treatment Centers of America uses to eliminate colorectal cancer. TomoTherapy can be especially beneficial as a colorectal cancer treatment for patients who need to be retreated in previously radiated areas that have had a recurrence.
TomoTherapy combines 3D CT imaging technology with sophisticated tools for planning and delivering radiation therapy. To help ensure that each cancer radiation treatment is as precise as possible, the system’s built-in CT scanner confirms the shape and position of a tumor before treatment begins.
TomoTherapy’s powerful and precise radiation beams target hard-to-reach colorectal tumors. The system revolves 360 degrees around a patient to deliver cancer radiation treatment from multiple angles. Because the radiation is so targeted, healthy tissues closest to the tumor receive minimal radiation exposure.
