Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) is a state-of-the-art radiation delivery system offered for cervical cancer treatment at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). This promising cancer therapy has been called the most significant breakthrough in radiation treatment in the past 30 years, largely because of its unique ability to treat difficult-to-reach tumors within the cervix and uterus.
IMRT allows CTCA cancer experts to use higher radiation doses than traditional cervical cancer treatments in the cervix and uterus, while at the same time sparing more of the surrounding healthy tissue.
