A Survivor’s Story
Peggy Shares Her ExperienceWhen pancreatic cancer survivor Peggy was told there was no hope, she refused to give up and came to CTCA.
Located between your spine and stomach, the pancreas helps break down food and hormones that control blood sugar levels. Cancer of the pancreas is an aggressive type of cancer that forms in the tissues of the pancreas. As pancreatic cancer grows, it may invade organs that surround the pancreas, such as the stomach or small intestine. Cancerous cells may also break away from the tumor and spread to other parts of the body. When cancer of the pancreas cells spreads, it often forms new tumors in lymph nodes and the liver, and sometimes in the lungs or bones.
