For years, cancer patients from all over the Southeastern United States have been traveling hundreds of miles for the unique care model found at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). Responding to patients’ needs in Georgia and throughout the Southeast, CTCA has filed a Certificate of Need (CON) with the Department of Community Health and gained approval from the State to build and operate a new center in Newnan, Ga. Approval of the CON paves the way for the construction of a fifth CTCA hospital, joining cancer centers in suburban Chicago, Philadelphia, Tulsa and suburban Phoenix.

"I'm excited that CTCA will now be closer to home," said Valerie Yurchuk, a breast cancer survivor who traveled from her home in Florida to CTCA in Philadelphia for treatment. "I could have gone to any cancer treatment program in the nation, but I came here because of the patient-centered approach of CTCA."

CTCA of the Southeast at a Glance
Located in Newnan, Ga., at Newnan Crossing Bypass, off of I-85.

Upon approval of certificate of need, the new cancer hospital will include: 50 beds, ICU rooms; surgical suites; state-of-the-art radiation and infusion therapy departments; an on-site outpatient clinic; rehabilitation and physical therapy; and on-site residential accommodations for outpatients and their families.
The hospital is expected to generate $500 million in economic activity over the first five years, and create approximately 500 new jobs after the fifth year of operation.
With more than two-thirds of patients expected to come from outside the state of Georgia, patients and their families will also contribute to the growth and vitality of the local economy.
