Nexavar® is a prescription, anticancer medicine approved by the U.S. FDA in 2005 for treatment of advanced kidney cancer. Also called renal cell carcinoma (RCC), advanced kidney cancer is the most commonly diagnosed form of kidney cancer.
Part of a new class of cancer medications called targeted therapies, Nexavar® is a multikinase inhibitor that targets a number of serine/threonine and receptor tyrosine kinases, interfering with processes that supply cancer tumors with blood and aid in their growth.
Nexavar® is an oral medication, usually taken as two 200 mg tablets twice a day.
At Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), our cancer doctors will work together with you so you can make an informed decision about whether or not to incorporate Nexavar® into your renal cell carcinoma treatment. Our whole-patient approach also offers complementary and alternative medicines to help improve quality of life and increase the effectiveness of anticancer medications such as Nexavar®.
