Aromasin®

Aromasin® is a breast cancer hormonal therapy that works to prevent cancerous cells from getting the estrogen they need in order to grow and reproduce. It is indicated as an adjuvant treatment (following surgery, chemotherapy or radiation) for estrogen receptor-positive, early stage breast cancer in postmenopausal women.

Aromasin® is approved for use following two to three years of tamoxifen treatment, at which time patients should no longer undergo tamoxifen therapy. During early breast cancer stages, Aromasin® treatment should continue for two to three years following discontinuation of tamoxifen therapy. Clinical studies have shown that taking Aromasin® after tamoxifen may further reduce the chance of recurring breast cancer.

At Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), your team of cancer experts will discuss Aromasin® as a possible treatment option for your breast cancer. Using a powerful combination of traditional and innovative cancer therapies, we ensure that you are well-informed regarding possible therapies and are comfortable with all decisions made regarding your cancer treatment.

Cancers Aromasin® Treats

Aromasin® is indicated for the treatment of postmenopausal women with estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) early stage breast cancer.

Helping to stop the production of estrogen in postmenopausal women, Aromasin® attempts to lessen the risk of estrogen-dependent tumor growth. Aromasin® works differently than tamoxifen. Rather than preventing estrogen from connecting itself to breast cancer cells, Aromasin® reduces estrogen levels in postmenopausal women by up to 98 percent.

At Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), we use a powerful blend of traditional and innovative breast cancer treatment methods, along with supportive/complementary therapies. You and your team of cancer specialists will work together to develop a personalized plan of treatment that is right for you.
