Included as part of a group of medications known as antineoplastics, Alimta® is indicated for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in patients who have previously undergone chemotherapy treatment.
Alimta® is also indicated for use in treating malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM). In contrast to treatment for non-small cell lung cancer, which can be treated with Alimta® as a standalone medication, treatment of mesothelioma cancer is administered in combination with cisplatin, a separate anticancer medicine. Treatment for MPM with Alimta® is indicated for patients whose disease cannot be removed with surgery, as well as for those who are otherwise unable to undergo curative surgery.
At Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), your team of oncology specialists will determine if Alimta® is an appropriate treatment option for you. Your team will work with you to develop a comprehensive and individualized plan of cancer care to treat all of you, not just the disease.

The primary cancer treated by Alimta® is malignant pleural mesothelioma (also known simply as MPM). When treating malignant pleural mesothelioma, Alimta® is administered with another anticancer medication called cisplatin. Alimta® is used as a treatment option when patients are not candidates for surgery.
Alimta® is also indicated for treatment following chemotherapy in patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Alimta® can be used as a standalone medication to treat NSCLC.
At Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), our unique, whole-patient approach ensures that we not only treat your disease, but all of you. Patients at CTCA have the benefit of having their entire care team collaborating and providing care at one location.
