This two-page article discusses the new Discovery PET/CT 600 scanner which was installed at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) in Tulsa in April 2009. CTCA became the third hospital in the world and the first in the nation to offer this new technology which allows physicians to diagnose and stage tumors with improved accuracy in order to develop more precise treatment plans for patients. The scanner can identify lesions as small as 2.8 mm in size. CTCA radiologist Timothy McCay, DO and medical oncologist Simeon Jaggernauth, DO were quoted in the article along with CTCA patient Kathy Kelly who has esophageal cancer.
