CTCA Ranked in Top 10 For Large Hospital Category

(Schaumburg, Ill., October 00, 2012). Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) has been recognized as one of the top 10 Large Hospital IT Departments to work for by Healthcare IT News. More than 10,000 hospital IT department employees nationwide completed the on-line survey, leading to CTCA’s selection as 8th in its category. “It is great to know that our IT stakeholders rank CTCA as a great place to work,” said Chad Eckes, Chief Information Officer at CTCA. “And I believe that a key motivating factor for our team’s workplace satisfaction comes from our strong alignment and focus on our patients.”

A national network of hospitals focused on providing cancer care, CTCA has IT staff members located across the country. For some organizations, this would pose a cultural problem, but not at CTCA. Explains Eckes, “Our patient care focus is a major driver in creating a tight, cohesive culture and IT team. We constantly talk about what we are doing and how that effects the patients. Knowing our work has a direct impact on the patient experience is one reason our IT team loves their work at CTCA.”

In its second year, Healthcare It News’ “Where to Work: Best Hospital IT Departments” award survey queried IT department employees regarding what makes their workplace superior. Values and characteristics most noted were: teamwork, work-life balance, empowerment, trust, openness, honesty and accountability. Winners in each category are featured in a feature article highlighting this year’s honorees.
