Upgraded BI program recognized for improved reporting and use in clinical date review
(Schaumburg, Ill., August 31, 2012). Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) has been recognized as one of Computerworld magazine’s “Best of BI Editor’s Choice” 2012 award winners. CTCA is one of 10 organizations to be recognized by the publication for their use of BI and predictive analytic tools to improve the business decision process.
“We are extremely honored by Computerworld’s recognition of CTCA as one of its best of business intelligence award recipients,” said Chad Eckes, Chief Information Officer at CTCA. “We have made a concentrated effort to upgrade our business intelligence (BI) department; expanding our resources, changing methodologies and re-evaluating our tools to not only obtain faster results, but to be easier for our customers to use. While recognition from outside sources is wonderful, we are most pleased by the impact these improvements have had on our patients and the stakeholders caring for them.”
QlikView, the system featured in the Best of BI Award recognition, was first used in the CTCA Pharmacy department, and allows users to track trends in usage of specific drugs. “Not only does this system help us to insure we are maximizing our treatment options from a financial standpoint, but it helps us to identify usages trends associated with a specific drug therapy used in one location that may be equally effective for other CTCA hospitals to adopt as well,” explained Eckes. “The use of BI analytic tools to identify and then share “Best Practices” that directly impact patient care across the enterprise was the reason Computerworld recognized us, and was the driving force in the upgrades we have made in the department.”
