A patient-centered approach to medical care is critical for meaningful reform of the U.S. health care system, Stephen Bonner, president and CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America, told industry leaders Tuesday in Dallas.
The Schaumburg, Ill.-based cancer center brings a team approach that includes oncologists, clinic nurses, dietitians, naturopathic oncology providers and nurse care managers to educate patients and explain their choices.
"At our core is patient empowerment," Bonner said. "Helping the patient get information and using it to maximize patient care."
