Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) in Tulsa raised $11,742.50 at the fourth annual Chefs for the Cure "taste-of" event on September 13 which benefited Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. Approximately 400 people attended the event, which was held at CTCA. To date, almost $50,000 has been raised for the Komen Tulsa Affiliate through this event alone.

At this year’s Chefs for the Cure, 34 chefs from local restaurants featured gourmet cuisine. In addition, to celebrate the CTCA Mother Standard® of care, the participating chefs were invited to bring a woman of inspiration to the event along with a recipe they either learned from or have shared with this woman. The recipes were then given to the attendees as a take-home gift.

"At CTCA, we believe there is no higher standard for quality cancer care than The Mother Standard," said Denise Geuder, CTCA vice president, Patient Care Services. "If your mother, father, sister or brother had cancer, how would you want them to be treated? That simple idea is at the heart of every aspect of the CTCA model of care."

The 2008 Chefs for the Cure chefs included Carla Hooks, Michell Janah, Rachel Pool, Jack Shoop and Kenny Wagoner, CTCA; Craig Baxter, Baxter’s Interurban Grill; Don Conner, Sysco; Tammie DiOrio, P.F.
