With more and more research supporting the importance of a healthy diet when combating an illness, naturopathic physicians are becoming more accepted as mainstream practitioners with the traditional medical community. Dr. Heidi Lucas from Cancer Treatment Centers of America's Seattle clinic attributes this transformation to the success patients are having while being treated with complementary and alternative medicine such as nutrition. "Doctors see patients who are getting better compared to other patients on the same regimen. So they ask what the patient is doing and find out the nutrition plan is making a difference." Dr. Lucas goes on to talk about the benefits of cancer fighting foods such as almonds, walnuts and green tea, just to name a few.
