Metronomic Chemotherapy for Breast Cancer
If chemotherapy is part of your individualized breast cancer treatment plan, your breast cancer team at CTCA will do everything possible to help make your chemotherapy as tolerable as possible.
Depending on the type, stage and size of the breast tumor, your medical oncologist may recommend an innovative delivery method called metronomic chemotherapy. With metronomic chemotherapy, your full chemotherapy treatment is administered in smaller doses over a period of several days, rather than the standard chemotherapy treatment of a large, single dose.
The lower doses may help make chemotherapy for breast cancer more tolerable by reducing some of the unpleasant treatment-related side effects, such as nausea and vomiting. Metronomic chemotherapy is also a promising option for breast cancer patients who cannot receive full dosages of chemotherapy.
Supportive Therapies
Your CTCA care team anticipates and proactively manages the potential side effects of chemotherapy for breast cancer. Before, during and after your treatment, you will receive supportive therapies designed to keep you strong and nutritionally fortified, reduce the side effects of chemotherapy, and increase your sense of well-being.
