Radiation Therapy for Bladder Cancer
Radiation therapy uses targeted energy to kill cancer cells, shrink tumors and provide relief of certain cancer-related symptoms. At Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), we use highly targeted radiation treatments to kill tumors, along with other treatments, like surgery and chemotherapy, to fight against the growth of new cancer cells.
At CTCA, we use external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) for the treatment of bladder cancer. EBRT allows our radiation oncologists to deliver high doses of radiation to bladder cancer cells from outside the body, using a variety of machine-based technologies. This type of radiation treatment allows us to target cancerous cells in the bladder, while sparing healthy tissue and organs.
